Let me introduce myself.
I'm Peter Byrnes. I started Asbury Solutions, right here in Asbury Park, New Jersey. It's a small company that helps local businesses build the software they already know they need — without sitting through a coding bootcamp first.
Here's the thing you should know about me first: I can't code. Never could. And the reason I started this company is wrapped up in why that never stopped me.
I've always taken things apart
My whole life, I've been the guy who takes things apart to see how they work.
Computers, first. I'd pull one apart piece by piece — not to fix it, just to see. How does this connect to that? What happens when I remove this? A computer is a system that works. Take it apart enough times and you start to see how the whole thing breathes.
Then cars. I wanted to know why a car really moves — suspension, oil flow, how every fluid moves through the system, and how an engine fires, stroke by stroke, cylinder by cylinder. Not the theory. The mechanics. How it all comes together to move three thousand pounds down the road.
I never read the manual first. I took it apart and figured it out.
The wall I hit
Here's the part I don't usually say out loud: I have extreme ADD.
For me, sitting down and learning a programming language end to end — Python, then HTML, then CSS, then actually writing the whole thing — was never going to happen. It takes so long. My brain won't sit still for it. I'd get partway through the tutorial and my head was already somewhere else, taking something else apart.
For years I thought that meant software wasn't for me. That building things with code was reserved for people who could sit still long enough.
But here's what I always had, even when I couldn't code: I understand how data flows. I understand how systems work. I understand how the pieces connect — and where the flow gets stuck. The syntax was the only thing I was missing.
The human body is a system too
I was a personal trainer for years. That's just another system — the human body. Figuring out how the pieces interact. What you change when one part is out of balance. What flows where, and what happens when it doesn't.
Same puzzle as the car. Different materials.
I've always loved building systems. It's the one thing I could never stop doing, even when I couldn't put the pieces in the language the tech world wanted.
The wall came down
The tools finally caught up.
I can describe the system I want. I check what comes back. I refine it. The languages are still there — they're just not the gate anymore.
For someone with ADD, that's not a convenience. That's everything. My brain is wired for systems, not syntax. I couldn't change that. The world finally caught up to it.
Why I started Asbury Solutions
That's why Asbury Solutions exists.
Not because I'm a coder. Because I'm a builder who finally has the tools to build — and there are a lot of people like me. Small business owners in Asbury Park and all along the Jersey Shore run real systems every day. Shops. Trades. Restaurants. Service businesses. They live inside their system. They know exactly how it works and where it's broken. And they were told, the same way I was, that building software wasn't for them.
It is for them now.
